Why do I have to be Canadian/live in
the Toronto area to be on the show?
Degrassi is made possible through the assistance of several Government
funding agencies, which require television productions to use
Canadian cast and crews. In addition, Degrassi and other television
shows receive federal and provincial tax credits based on where
they work. Thus, to ensure our eligibility for these funds and
the Canadian and Ontario tax credits, Degrassi only employs Canadian
citizens who are residents of Ontario.
How do I become an actor?
There are all sorts of ways to become an actor-- participating
in your school's drama program, taking acting classes and workshops,
and trying out for community theatre are all excellent ways to
start. Remember, acting is a tough job, so practice your craft!
And it's also important to find people to work who will give you
support and feedback. Acting is a craft, so there's always something
more to learn.
If you're serious about becoming an actor, you should think
about finding an agent. There are all sorts of agents too, including
some who specialize in background performers. Background work
(or being an "extra") is a great way to start out in the business.
Your agent will submit your picture and resume whenever there's
a casting call. Have your parents/guardians check the phonebook
or search online for an agent near you
Where/ how is Degrassi filmed?
Degrassi is filmed in Toronto, Canada. It is produced by Epitome
Pictures Inc. in conjunction with our Canadian broadcaster, CTV.
The website, degrassi.tv, is also produced in Toronto by Epitome
Pictures and QuickPlay Media.
The show is mainly filmed in the Epitome Pictures studios, a
former warehouse that has been converted to look like a real school.
The studio also houses the interiors of some of the characters'
homes, and a mall food-court area. As a result, the majority of
Degrassi is filmed inside one large studio. However, we do occasionally
take the production "on location" to various places around Toronto
that are impossible to re-create in a studio.
Degrassi is filmed during the summer months, generally between
May and December, when our actors have some time off from school.
During the school year, the actors have tutors on-set to keep
them up to date with their schoolwork. Once the production of
each season of Degrassi is over, the actors go back to their regular
schools just like everyone else!
Can I visit the studio?
The studio is not open to the general public for tours, nor is
it possible to watch Degrassi being filmed. It takes four long
days to film an episode of Degrassi, with the cast and crew moving
between four different studios and a back lot. This makes it very
difficult to accommodate visitors.

Why Does Canada Show Episodes before
Other Countries?
Degrassi is produced in Canada for broadcast on the Canadian network,
CTV. All episodes of the series air on CTV before anywhere else.
Following that broadcaster, other broadcasters can air the show,
creating their own schedule for the series. Some broadcasters
may chose to run the series as it ran on CTV, while others may
chose to broadcast in a different order.
Is Degrassi available on DVD or video?
By March 2006, the first three seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation
will be released on DVD and VHS in Canada and the USA. Degrassi
Junior High and Degrassi High are also available on DVD. Check
your local stores!
Where Can I Get the Music Featured on Show?

on Degrassi: The Next Generation is listed in the Music section
of the Fan Pages. You can find your favourite songs from the series
on the compilation CD Songs From Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Now in stores, the CD features music from Canadian artists such
as Sam Roberts and Buck 65. Just as Degrassi is proudly Canadian,
all of the music on Songs From Degrassi is written and performed
by Canadian songwriters and artists. The songs range in style
